Dr. Nader Engheta, a Fanni graduate and honorable member of FRF receives the SPIE 2015 Gold Medal

Nade EnghetaSPIE announces 2015 award winners

Dr. Nader Engheta, a Fanni graduate, an honorable member of FRF, and professor at University of Pennsylvania is the recipient of the 2015 Gold Medal of SPIE (the international society for optics and photonics). This Gold Medal is the highest honor bestowed by SPIE.  More information is shown in attached file. The award will be given in the SPIE Symposium Awards banquet on August 12, 2015.

Some of the past winners include Charles Townes (father of laser, who won the Nobel Prize in 1964), Charles Kao (father of optical fibers, who won the Nobel Prize in 2009), Federico Capasso (father of band gap engineering and quantum cascade laser, who won the IEEE Edison medal in 2004), etc.

We congratulate him for this great achievement and are very proud of him. This information will be published in our next Payvand-Nameh. In addition we will recognize him in our Annual Celebration (October 10, 2015).
