NADER ENGHETA, METAMATERIALS AND NANO-OPTICS EXPERT,
TO RECEIVE 2012 IEEE ELECTROMAGNETICS AWARD

Pioneering Contributions to Electromagnetism Have Spurred Interest in Metamaterials Research and Impacted Many Engineering Disciplines

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (28 June 2012) – Nader Engheta, a world-leading scientist in the field of electromagnetism whose pioneering work has transformed metamaterials and nanoscale optics research, is being honored by IEEE with the 2012 IEEEElectromagnetics Award. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional association.

On the Annual Meeting of Members that was held on May 15, 2012, the following items were put to vote by members, and were approved unanimously:

1. Effective immediately, the number members constituting quorum in Annual Meeting of Members, changed from 20% to 10%.
2. Effective immediately, the number members in the Board of Directors, changed from 15 to 9.

Next, election was held to elect new Board of Directors. The following individuals were elected to the Board for next two years:

1. Hassan Hossein Zadeh
2. Farrokh Habibi-Ashrafi
3. Alahyar Kadkhoda
4. Siamak Jafroudi

FRF 18th Annual Reunion, coinciding with the 77th Anniversary of Establishment of Daneshkadeye Fanni and sponsored by the UCI's Society of Iranian Graduate Students(SIGS) was held on October 15, 2011 from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM at the "Pacific Ballroom of the Student Center, University of California, Irvine, Irvine, California.
